ESOL US History Week of March 25 - 29

This week is all about World War II which will complete Domain 5. We will have the test for Domain 5 on Friday. On Wednesday, I will post the review game to the blog.

ESOL American Lit Week of March 25 - 29

We will finish Unit 1 on the American Dream this week. Our reading this week will focus on immigration and the American Dream. We will be writing quite a bit this week: a body paragraph about immigration, a body paragraph about money, and completing the "American Dream"Essay on Thursday in Computer Lab 2009.

ESOL World Literature Week of March 25 - 29

We will start on Unit 3 this week, which is about cultures in conflict. We will read several short stories from different cultures around the world. We will start with the story "A Private Experience" by Chimamanda Ngosi Adichie from Nigeria. On Thursday, we will go to Computer Lab 2009 to complete the Argument Essay.

ESOL US History Week of March 18 - 22

We will discuss the "Between the Wars" period this week, including the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. We will also get started with World War II by the end of the week. The Domain 5 test will be Friday, March 29.

ESOL American Lit Week of March 18 - 22

We will continue with Springboard Unit 1 on the American Dream. We will continue reading from Springboard and analyzing how different pieces could be used in the Synthesizing Essay. We have this Thursday and next Thursday in the Computer Lab to complete the Synthesizing Essay.

ESOL World Literature Week of March 18 - 22

This week we will finish Persepolis. We will be in the Computer Lab on Thursday to finish the Argument Essay. We will take the Unit 2B Test on Friday. I will link the review game to this post on Wednesday.

ESOL US History Week of March 11 - 15

We are marching right along with the other US History classes. We will begin Domain 5, covering the time period of World War 1 through World War II. This will be a three week unit that will end the Friday before Spring Break. This is always one of the most interesting units, but of course, it is filled with a huge amount of information. There will be a quiz over World War I this Friday.

ESOL American Lit Week of March 11 - 15

We will begin our three week unit on the American Dream this week. We will begin the week by unpacking the Embedded Assessment which is a synthesizing essay about the question, Does America still provide access to the American Dream? We will have time to complete the essay in the computer lab. In this essay, it will be necessary for you to include evidence from several other readings that we will do in class from our Springboard books.

ESOL World Literature Week of March 11 - 15

This week, we will be concentrating on Unit 2B which is Argumentative Writing and on finishing Persepolis. On Thursday, we have time in the Computer Lab to begin your Argument Essays. We have a total of two days in the lab to complete them. The lessons this week will focus on writing an argument and on reading passages that demonstrate argument and persuasion.

ESOL American Lit Week of March 4 - 8

On Monday, you will present your argumentative speeches and we will begin the short, one week Transcendentalist Unit. On Wednesday, you will have an open-note quiz over the Transcendentalism cloze notes you took on Tuesday.

ESOL World Literature Week of March 4 - 8

We will continue reading Persepolis and begin on Unit 2B. The focus of 2B is argument, so we will be focusing on rhetorical appeals and devices and the Embedded Assessment is an Argumentative Essay.
