World History Week of January 9 - 13

Welcome to World History. As I said in class, this class is going to move fast. We have to cover the history of the world in one semester. There are 11 units, so tests will come every week and a half to every two weeks. We will also have some projects that will count as test  grades. We began Unit 1 with the Mining the Standards and the Mesopotamia and Egypt Cloze notes. Also in this unit is the study of ancient India and China. The test is scheduled for Friday, January 13.

World Literature Week of January 9 - 13

Welcome to 2017 and World Literature! This course includes literature from around the world from all time periods. We will start this week with the Epic of Gilgamesh, which is one of the first known epics. We will also take the SLO pre-test, and get started on a pre-test for the class. (I know, too much testing--I'm with you completely.) Typically, our class periods will be a mixture of reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Language Arts covers a lot of ground.

These are the Learning Questions we will cover this week.
- The historical and cultural context for the literature we will read from this time period.
- The types, elements, and conventions of an epic - How to analyze an epic for the archetype of the hero’s quest
-What is the function and use of the archetypal setting in ancient literature?
